The Kansas State University Southwest Research and Extension Center, Garden City, Kansas, hosted its fall field day Aug. 24.
Researchers were on hand to present reports on various projects at the center, as well as updates on production challenges farmers might face this fall and winter.
Randall Currie, weed scientist, presented the test plot results on various treatments for persistent weed problems, including glyphosate-resistant pigweeds and others. Even though chemical companies are continuing to research new methods of control, right now the best answer to battling resistant weeds is a pre-emergence treatment to the field, Currie explained.
